After the briefest Winterstorm

The winter weather arrived late on Friday night, slipping in in the middle of the night. What was expected to be heavy snow and lingering ice passed through much more softly than predicted, leaving only a small trace behind. A dusting here, a slick edge there. Enough to notice, but not enough to linger.

It makes me wonder if winter has more to say this year, or if this was all it intended to offer. February hasn’t even arrived yet, and winter still has time to return — or to simply fade out gently, as it has so far.

And speaking of time passing, it’s hard to believe we’re already in the last week of January. The days feel both slow and fast in that quiet winter way — where nothing seems to happen, and yet everything keeps moving forward.

For now, the air feels paused. Waiting.
And maybe that’s enough.
